Prior to joining us, Michelle served in the Latino Youth Leadership Conference (LYLC) for 8 years. The Latino Youth Leadership Conference is focused on bringing together Latine high school students from all over the valley for five days of leadership training and development. Students interact with a variety of topics and explore their cultural identity. During her time with the LYLC she served in the areas of recruitment, leadership development, and facilitator staff. She also served as the site coordinator for The WLC Family Engagement Resource Center (FERC) at Ed W. Clark High School. During her time at FERC, Michelle provided support to underserved teens at risk of dropping out. The students and their families received resources to strengthen the home-school connection and assist in keeping students on track to graduate. As she begins her journey with Prevent Child Abuse Nevada (PCANV), Michelle is excited to continue to serve her community and promote happy, healthy childhoods for all children in Nevada. Michelle aspires to create strong community connections and share with her community the resources available to create safe, stable, and nurturing environments all across the state.
